Activated carbon has long been used for filtration media when super clean water is desired. Carbon has the natural ability to absorb high amounts of organic solids such as chemicals or pesticides that may go into pond water. Carbon will also absorb medications used on fish. Activated carbon has also been shown to have the ability to remove tannins that cause "tea-colored" water. Use approximately 1-1/2 cupfuls for every 100 gallons of pond water. Place in mesh bag and set in moving water. In a pond, skimmer or Aquafalls is a good location. Replace carbon every four to five weeks as needed.
